Histoire

Great for a short visit, wasn’t too expensive and lovely views over the estuary. One of the towers is still standing enough for you to walk up! Small gift shop, friendly staff. Don’t think there was any cafe facilities from what we saw when we were there (late Oct).

I only stopped for a few minutes, but it looks like the kind of castle I'd like to spend more time at.

I didn't go into the castle when I visited, I just walked on the coastal path around it, and it was so lovely. There's picnic benches and a lovely little seated area tucked in from the path with a canopy of sorts over it (just before the incline that goes to where the boathouse is).

What a wonderful place to visit, particularly on a sunny day. We arrived around opening time. It was very quiet, and the sun was shining. Staff were very friendly, and we wondered freely around the castle. There are fabulous views across the estuary. There's a car park very near by. It's a haven for dog walkers, and people just out for a breath of air at a peaceful place. There's an area leading off the car park which enables people to use a wheelchair and still feel that they are in an open, tranquil space. Across the road was a cafe, and almost next door, a lovely little Welsh crafts gift shop. Well worth a visit.
